Angels recently took in Shelley Daisy, a lovely black Shar-Pei puppy. Her owners wanted to send her to SPCA as their current family is already full, but we intervened and are now trying to find a good forever home for her.
Shelley Daisy is a pure-bred Shar-Pei, with the classic coarse short fur, black tongue and piglet tail. She has few facial wrinkles, which is typical of the traditional Shar-Pei, and is therefore much easier to groom and will not require tacking of her eyelids as most foreign bred Shar-Peis do. She is currently 4 months old.
Shelley Daisy is a sweet girl. She knows her boundaries and is extremely obedient. She is toilet-trained, literally, as she will not do her business anywhere indoors except in the bathroom. She also hardly barks unless it is at strangers, which makes her both an excellent guard dog and a great house pet.
She is currently on a diet of fish-protein-oatmeal-starch -
Eagle Pro Holistic Sardine and Salmon Formula, as Shar-Peis are prone to food allergies. She spends her days at the shop learning to socialise with both humans and other animals, including cats, as well as being groomed to keep her clean and fresh daily as Shar-Peis are more prone to a strong doggy smell. We are now training her to walk on a leash and to be more outgoing as when she came to us she was very reserved and shy. Her new owner will be given her current collar as well as advice on her diet so as to keep her food allergies away.
She is currently healthy, but has not been vaccinated or dewormed. She is also allergic to chicken and most Shar-Peis are also allergic to beef. She has some old scars from play-fighting with her siblings but is already receiving topical medication to promote healing apart from being groomed every day. She is not food-motivated and will need patience in training - experienced puppy owners preferred for adopting her.
If you would like to view and adopt Shelley Daisy,
contact us at 6748 9810. An adoption fee will be applied to cover her food and boarding costs at the shop, as well as to deter her prospective owner from abandoning her in future. Proceeds go towards the re-homing and rescue work that we do at Angels Pet Shop.
